Hi there fellow knitters!
Today I have a free pattern for you which is one of my best sellers in my shop.
This pattern is designed to fit a medium mug or cup with a diameter of 3.5”-4.5”.
It’s a really quick knit and is a wonderful gift or stocking filler (as we’re coming up to the holidays).
Materials and Tools
You will need the following:
- 3.75 mm needles
- Approximately 20g yarn
- 1 x button
- Sewing/tapestry needle
Abbreviations
- CO = cast on
- SWYIB = slip a stitch with the working yarn in the back
- SWYIF = slip a stitch with the working yarn in the front
- K = knit
- KFB = knit front and back (increase stitch)
- K2TOG = knit 2 stitches together (decrease stitch)
- P = purl
- BO = bind off
Pattern Instructions
This is a four row repeat which you’ll need to repeat a total of eight times (or longer if you have a tall mug).
Cast On 54
- SWYIB, K51, SWYIB, P1
- SWYIB, P1, K2TOG 25 times, SWYIF, P1
- SWYIB, K1, KFB 25 times, SWYIB, P1
- SWYIB, P51, SWYIF, P1
You will now make a cord to loop around the button to secure the cozy in place. I personally make the cord using the icord technique or you can knit a cord of 3 stitches.
